editedA couple of weeks I wrote a little piece (that you can find here) about the comeback of ‘70s style in men’s fashion. In that article I mentioned it is hard to look at the ’70s without pointing out the impeccable suits created by some of the biggest designers of the day including the ever-illusive Halston and Yves Saint Laurent. Unsurprisingly, they continue to influence today’s designers, such as Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford. They were even a prominent inspiration for the Fall 2017 Menswear show by Gucci, as evidenced by the loud prints and colors, particularly the paisleys and oversized glasses seen walking down the runway._MG_2688Curious as I am I had to give ‘70s style a try myself. I ended up ordering this Fairfax suit on bonobos.nl. I already shared some pictures on my Instagram page @THISISMDFS. If you head to the website you might be a little confused if you see the pictures as it appears to be pretty slim fit and your assumptions are right. Although I have to add that the suit is more regular fit than is shown on their website. I decided to go for a size bigger to get that flair effect on the bottom of my trousers. The jacket I ordered in my correct size a EU 52.

Speaking about orders – don’t forget to use the code -THISISMDFS- during check out to save yourself 30% all purchases made on bonobo.com.

As I unfortenetly did’t have the patience to have the trousers tailored to the right length I used platform sneakers, these white ones from the ZARA are my ultimate favorite, to add some length to the look. To keep it really ‘70s, I played around with some jewelry in silver, but making sure it had a modern look and feel.

You might ask why I wore a shirt over my turtle neck shirt, but the only fair answer I can give to that is because I love turtle necks and I just love this effect it gives to the suit. Mind you, this is definitely something you should wear in a relatively ‘colder’ environment as this look is pretty warm.

What do you guys think of the look the suit and my attempt on the ‘70s look?
